
The following is an excerpt from the Euronews write-up, “Sporting activity, a lever for inclusion for individuals with intellectual disabilities” highlighting the participation of Unique Olympics professional athletes, personnel and management at the inaugural Unique Olympics European Union Day on 24 and 25 September 2025 throughout the EU’s European Week of Sport.
On 25 September, athletes with intellectual impairments competed in a bocce and table tennis Unified Sports Experience at the European Payment. Throughout their time in Brussels, Unique Olympics professional athletes additionally met over 120 EU representatives and authorities, pressing them to increase financing and plans for inclusion in sport, education and learning, work and healthcare.
The occasion, organised at the European Compensation by Unique Olympics, aims to promote the addition of individuals with intellectual impairments in the EU.
